Eagle Scouts embody the leadership, service, and  commitment to excellence that Scouting brings to our nation.  

Each year, Scouts, Leaders, Parents and Businesses gather to recognize the “best and brightest” youth in our Council. The Buckskin Council’s John L. Dickinson Eagle Scout Recognition Social was an inspiring event for the next generation of America’s leaders! 

Eagle Scouts and their families from across the council came together in December to celebrate their achievements.  We had a special guest join us:  Regis the Eagle from Three Rivers Avian Center in Hinton, WV.  We thank Regis and his handlers for taking time to be with us and allowing the Eagle Scouts to share some photographs.

BSBA in Organizational Leadership

•Business-focused — you’ll learn nonprofit management skills, like budgeting, fundraising and ethical leadership

•Hands-on curriculum with opportunities to work with the BSA and other nonprofits, and to intern at organizations in 25+ states and 10 countries

•Located in Morgantown, about 3 hours from experiential learning at Summit Bechtel Reserve

BS in Adventure Recreation Management

•Outdoors-focused — you’ll learn by doing and earn an instructor or guide certification in at least one skill area before you graduate

•Career options include camping directors and managers of camps and adventure facilities, like BSA council camps or high adventure bases

•Located in Beckley, only 20 minutes from Summit Bechtel Reserve’s world-class adventure venues, climbing sites, trails and facilities

Serving Today’s Families

The BSA’s mission is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.

Our priority is to bring the benefits of Scouting to more youth while remaining true to our mission.

We are excited to announce beginning in 2018, our Cub Scouting program will be open to boys and girls. By welcoming both girls and boys into the program, even more youth will have access to the character development and values-based leadership that Scouting promises and be better prepared for future success.

The Buckskin Council has registered our first girls into three Council approved Cub Scout Packs that are participating in the early adopter programs for Family Scouting. This is an exciting time for our Scouting families and I hope you will welcome them into our great Scouting program.

Starting in August, all chartering partners will have the choice of offering Cub Scouting to boys and girls in the same pack, boys and girls in separate packs, boys only in a pack or girls only in a pack. These options will make it much easier for families to enjoy Scouting as a family, and will allow our chartering partners the flexibility they desire in serving families.
