Welcome to the exciting world of pirates and sailors! Imagine a time long ago when brave adventurers sailed the high seas in search of treasure, exploring mysterious islands and facing thrilling challenges. Pirates wore eye patches, had wooden legs, and shouted "Ahoy, matey!" as they navigated the waves on their grand ships. They lived by their own rules, making friends and foes along the way, all while searching for hidden gold and secret maps.
At our family camp, we will dive into the fascinating lives of pirates and sailors. We'll create our own pirate ship, learn to tie nautical knots, and embark on treasure hunts that take us through forests and along the shore, just like real explorers. During our program day, we’ll learn about the importance of teamwork, and discover how sailors used the stars to guide their journeys. With games, crafts, and plenty of adventures, this camp will be a treasure trove of fun and learning for the whole family. So, grab your compass and prepare for a swashbuckling adventure on the high seas!
With our theme of Pirates & Sailors, we encourage your scout and tagalong to dress like a pirate or sailor. In fact, we will be providing pirate hat, skull & crossbones bandana, and eye patch (while supplies last) for those who want to be pirates. For the sailors in the group, we will provide a sailor hat and red or blue bandana (while supplies last). Get into the spirit of the weekend with a costume. We may even have a “treasure” or two to giveaway to the best pirate and sailor.
There are no planned event activities on Friday as families will be arriving and setting up camp throughout the evening. Campers are welcome to fish at either lake. Packs are encouraged to take advantage of the evening by doing some activities or games in the campsite or surrounding areas.
Activities are scheduled for Saturday, beginning at 9:00 am. Families are welcome to travel through camp on their own or with other families from the same den or pack. It’s really up to you. The traditional activities that you and your scout look forward to at camp like the target and range activities (BB Shooting and Archery), Fishing at the lower lake, and Cub World (the playground across from the shower house). In addition, we'll have many theme related activities for the scouts and tagalongs. These include boating on the lower lake, rescue line toss, rope making, map & compass basics, boat races, cargo net climb, “walking the plank”, building your own sailing ship and racing it against another sea captain. (Adventures subject to change and additional activities may be added to the program.)
