Adena District Cub Scout Fishing Derby

The Cub Scout Fishing Derby is open to all Cub Scouts. The fishing at Camp Arrowhead is catch and release. Compete for prizes like Most Fish Caught and for Largest Fish Caught. Trophies will be presented for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each category. All equipment and bait should be provided by the participants. Some camp cane poles and bread for dough balls will be available. There are no awards for adults who wish to fish during this event.

• All Cub Scouts may participate in this event.
• Webelos attending the Webelos-ree that weekend need not register for the Fishing Derby. Your registration for the Webelos-ree includes the Fishing Derby.
• All participants should provide their own equipment and bait. A limited number of cane poles are available. Some bread will be provided for “dough balls”.
• Lion and Tiger scouts must be accompanied by an adult partner 18 years or older.
• Dens or Packs must provide sufficient adult supervision for their group.
• Since all fishing at Camp Arrowhead is catch and release, it is the responsibility of the Scout to have the judges verify his catch before it is returned to the lake.
• Fish caught by an adult and given to the Scout will result in the Scout being disqualified.
• Trophies will be award based on the decision of the judges. The judges’ decisions are final.
• Trophies will be presented in two categories — Most Fish Caught and Largest Fish Caught. Trophies will include a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

Time : Registration 8:00-8:30am

Fishing 8:30am to 11:45am

Awards 11:45am to noon

Place : Lower Lake at Camp Arrowhead, Ona, WV

Cost : No fee for Cub Scouts.  Walk-ins are welcome but we'd like you to register so we know how many to expect.

No fishing license is required.

Adults are welcome to fish during the event but are not eligible for the prizes being awarded. Adult supervision of Cub Scouts is required.
