Camp Roland Homecoming

The Mountain Dominion District of the Boy Scouts of America announces a HOMECOMING to CAMP ROLAND to be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013. All Scouts and Scouters, both past and present, are invited to attend. A roast beef dinner will be served in the dining hall at 6:00 p.m. followed by an old fashioned campfire program at 8:00 p.m. The homecoming is in conjunction with the annual Boy Scout Fall Camporee at Camp Roland.

Camp Roland, near Bastian in beautiful Bland County, Virginia, has served Scouting for well over 60 years. Countless Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts have experienced nature and the great outdoors at our beloved camp, first as the premiere camp in the Appalachian Council and currently as part of the Buckskin Council, BSA. Alumni of the camp, especially those who were active in Scouting decades ago, are invited to attend the dinner and campfire. You may pre-register by visiting www.CampRoland.com or by calling (276) 322-3911. Cost for the meal is $7 and includes a camp patch. Please register by September 23, 2013 to ensure a seat at dinner.

“Seasoned” alumni of Camp Roland are also invited to share their stories about the camp or Scouting “in the good ol’ days.” These tales may be submitted at

www.CampRoland.com, emailed to BigBuckets@comcast.net, or you may mail hand-written accounts of your Scouting adventures to:

Please submit all “Tales from Camp Roland” by September 23, 2013 so we can have them ready to share at the Fall Camporee. This will be a great time of food, fun and camaraderie. Won’t you plan to join us?
